Our Music School
We believe that music provides a platform for the development of not only musical abilities but that it enhances social skills and brain capacity for all other areas of life.
Music Lessons are usually on a weekly basis during each school term. Afternoons and Saturdays are our most popular options. We schedule your lessons to suit your family best.
Major Player Music School is a professional, independent Music School under the direction of our principal Bernadette Gorman. We are located centrally in Rockhampton adjacent to Green Brothers Music.
Our students are encouraged to learn for their enjoyment and for a life-long love of music.
Awards and prizes may come as a natural extension of their enjoyment and commitment but it is not our primary focus.
At Major Player we believe that the student’s progression is reliant upon the effective triangle of support involving teacher leadership, parental support and the dedicated effort of the student.
We need all three in unison to achieve the ideal outcome.
We are passionate believers in the benefits that music education delivers.
We have seen the positive changes in our students as they move through the programs and take great pride in their results and personal growth reflected not only in music but at schools and in the wider community.
Science continues to propose the positive influences of music education on brain development and personal skills and we feel that it is in clear evidence to us each day.
Our principal, Bernadette Gorman is a past graduating student of the Queensland Conservatorium and a past student of the renowned Schnabel protégé Dr Nancy Weir.
‘Miss Berna’ co-owned the award winning Northside Music School at the Grange in Brisbane for 13 years before tertiary music teaching in Australia and overseas.
She has held positions as a National Trainer and Examiner and as adjudicator at Eisteddfod and State Competitions.
She has authored music programs over the past 20 years.
Major Player Music School enters its 20th year, carrying on the business originated in Green Brothers some 40 years ago.
