Celebrating 14 Years
Major Player Music School is a Central Queensland business celebrating our fourteenth year in 2014.
Major Player commenced after accepting an invitation from Green Brothers in 2001 to continue the music education business it had run for some 30 years.
Our principal, Bernadette Gorman is a past graduating student of the Queensland Conservatorium and a past student of the renowned Schnabel protégé Dr Nancy Weir.
‘Miss Berna’ co-owned the award winning Northside Music School at the Grange in Brisbane for 13 years before tertiary music teaching in Australia and overseas.
She has held positions as a National Trainer and Examiner and as adjudicator at Eisteddfod and State Competitions.
She has authored music programs over the past 20 years.
Our students are encouraged to learn for their enjoyment and for a life-long love of music.
Awards and prizes may come as a natural extension of their enjoyment and commitment but it is not our primary focus.
At Major Player we believe that the student’s progression is reliant upon the effective triangle of support involving teacher leadership, parental support and the dedicated effort of the student.
We need all three in unison to achieve the ideal outcome.
We are passionate believers in the benefits that music education delivers.
We have seen the changes in our students as they move through the programs and take great pride in their results and personal growth.
Science continues to propose the influences of music education on brain development and personal bearing and we feel that it is in clear evidence to us each day.
Music will have a profound influence on brain development
when active participation in musical activities occurs.
It is the engagement and focused attention
in the art form that is the key.
